2013 AWPA Technical Committee Meetings
September 15-19, 2013 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina USA

Conde Nast Traveler has named Charleston the Top City in the United States two years in a row, as Charleston continues to be the Southern city that has it all: ambiance, culture, friendliness, great food, nightlife, but especially because it's the venue for the 2013 AWPA Fall Technical Committee Meetings! Stroll narrow, tree-lined courtyards, chill on the beach, visit historic forts, sprawling plantations and other storied landmarks exclusive to Charleston. Plan your trip today by visiting the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
Note: The deadline for all standardization proposals (new standards, revisions to or reaffirmation of existing standards, or withdrawal of standards) is 60 days prior to the commencement of the meetings. For the Fall 2013 Standardization Cycle, the deadline for all proposals was Thursday, 18 July 2013. Comments or suggested modifications of proposals shall be sent to the proponent of the proposal as soon as possible after proposals are posted to the appropriate committee pages. Any presentations or written materials to be discussed at the meetings shall be distributed to the proponent, the Technical Committee, and AWPA at least 20 days prior to the commencement of the meetings, which was Tuesday, 27 August 2013.
Hotel Reservations
The meetings will take place at The Francis Marion Hotel 387 King Street in Downtown Charleston. Named for General Francis Marion, the hotel opened in 1924 as the largest and grandest in the Carolinas. An extensive restoration has added to the modern day comforts and enhanced the hotel's historic ambiance with sleek room decor reminiscent of the early grandeur. The group rates for the meeting are as follows:
● Single/Double: $169 ● Triple: $179 ● Quad $189
The reservations deadline was August 14, 2013
The hotel may continue to offer the group rate based on hotel occupancy. To determine rates and availability, call the hotel toll-free at +1-877-756-2121 or at +1-843-722-0600 if you have difficulties with the toll-free number. Be sure to mention that you are attending the AWPA meetings.
State and Federal government rates may be available to those who qualify. Each person is responsible for making his or her own hotel reservations. The cut-off date for hotel reservations was Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Please note that AWPA receives facility discounts and complimentary meeting room space if our attendees stay at the host hotel, which enables AWPA to keep its registration fees at relatively low rates. For this reason, we encourage you to stay at the Francis Marion Hotel if at all possible.
Meeting Registration
Registration is open to any person who wishes to attend the meetings and abide by the AWPA Technical Committee Regulations. AWPA members, however, may register at deeply discounted rates. If you are a non-member and wish to join AWPA so that you may take advantage of the member rate, please visit the members section of our website.
Registration entitles one to attend all technical committee meetings, task group meetings, and the evening receptions. Meals and lodging are not included. Please note that registering for the meeting does not reserve a room for you at the hotel. You must make your hotel reservations individually.
Registration Fees are as follows:
Early Registration (ended August 12): $180 (members), $260 (non-members)
Pre-Registration (August 13-September 3): $220 (members), $300 (non-members)
On-site Registration (September 15-19): $260 (members), $340 (non-members)
Please note that no refunds will be issued for cancellations.
(non-member rates are indeed higher than member rates...if you're not a member, please consider applying for AWPA membership - if approved, you will qualify for the member rate)
