2017 AWPA Technical Committee Meetings:

HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE (Updated October 23)

The Technical Committee meetings have been postponed to to December 12-16, 2017 and the final schedule is posted below.

All registrations for the meeting were held and applied to the re-scheduled meeting dates.  THE DEADLINE FOR REFUNDS WAS OCTOBER 20, 2017, and no refunds for cancellations can be made at this time.

The AWPA guest room block at the Margaritaville Hotel is nearly full, and the hotel itself is almost completely sold out.  If you do not have a reservation at this time, you may need to seek alternate accommodations.  There are several other hotels and bed and breakfast inns within a few blocks of the hotel.

Key West, the southernmost point in the continental U.S., offers a tropical blend of azure waters, exotic foliage, and four-star restaurants, with a history of some notorious and notable figures.  Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams made their homes in Key West, while former president Harry Truman once wrote: "I've a notion to move the capital to Key West and just stay."  Significant research on marine borers has been done around the piers of this quaint coastal town.  For more information on what to do in Key West, go to the Key West Chamber of Commerce website: www.keywestchamber.org.


Key WestNote:  The deadline for all standardization proposals (new standards, revisions to or reaffirmation of existing standards, or withdrawal of standards) is 75 days prior to the commencement of the meetings.  For the Fall 2017 Standardization Cycle, the deadline for all proposals was Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 11:59 pm CDT (US).  Comments or suggested modifications of proposals shall be sent to the proponent of the proposal as soon as possible after proposals are posted to the appropriate committee pages.  Please remember: "All written materials to be distributed to Technical Committee members before or during the meeting and/or any visual presentations to be made at the meeting shall be submitted to AWPA, the proponent, and the Technical Committee members at least 20 days prior to the commencement of the meetings" (TCR 8.7).  Based on the new meeting dates, the current deadline is now Thursday, November 23, 2017.

 

Hotel Reservations

The meetings will take place at the Margaritaville Key West Resort and Marina at 245 Front Street in Key West, Florida.  The location of the hotel is ideal for the 2017 Technical Committee Meetings due to its close proximity to many restaurants, attractions, and nightlife activities.  The hotel is about a 15 minute ride from Key West International Airport.  The deadline for hotel reservations at the group rate is 5:00 pm Eastern Time (US) on Thursday, November 9, 2017, but please note that the AWPA guest room block is nearly full and the hotel is almost completely sold out.  If you have questions about hotel reservations, please call the hotel's reservations department at +1 855-366-8045

Meeting Registration

Registration is open to any person who wishes to attend the meetings and abide by the AWPA Technical Committee Regulations.  AWPA members, however, may register at deeply discounted rates.  If you are a non-member and wish to join AWPA so that you may take advantage of the member rate, please click here for more information on applying for AWPA membership.

Registration entitles one to attend all committee meetings, task group meetings, and the evening receptions.  (Your spouse and/or guests must register at the special spouse/guest rate to attend the receptions.)  Meals and lodging are not included.  Please note that registering for the meeting does not reserve a room for you at the hotel.  You must make your hotel reservations individually. 

Registration Fees are as follows:

  • Early Registration (ends October 31): $275 (members), $375 (non-members)
  • Pre-Registration (November 1-21): $350 (members), $450 (non-members)
  • On-site Registration (December 12-16):  $400 (members), $500 (non-members)
  • Spouse/Guest Registration (ends November 21):  $50

 

Please note that no refunds will be issued for cancellations.
